Jamaica Biennial

In 2017, the National Gallery of Jamaica sought to reposition the Jamaica Biennial as the leading platform for Caribbean art. Originally established in 1977 as an exhibition specifically for Jamaican artists, the gallery wanted to emphasize its ties with the region more broadly, as well as with the contemporary art world. SGLA arranged a press trip to the opening, and also garnered international coverage, helping to raise awareness of Jamaican art and artists, and the museum's identity as the largest and oldest public art institution in the Anglophone Caribbean.
